Our Call to Adopt Round 2

I've said before that adoption was never part of our family's plan for our lives. After we had our two girls biologically we were very happy and content. We were active in our church and community and frankly, pretty content living in our little box. Then in December 2011, God rocked our world and called us to adopt. We brought our son, Asher, home from Uganda, Africa in April of 2013.

THEN we thought our family was complete. We had our son and things were finally getting comfortable again. But we have found God does not call us to live "comfortable" lives. And as soon as we start feeling that way, He likes to shake things up a bit. He's funny that way. ;-)

So in January 2015, I once again felt like God wanted us to adopt. I have also said you have to be a little crazy to adopt internationally and a lot crazy to do it more than once. This "call" on our lives was also crazy because Steve and I are not young. We are in our mid to late 40's and within a few years our girls will be graduating high school. But I could not shake that feeling. So I didn't say anything to anyone about it. I just sat on it and prayed. The next month, out of nowhere, our girls started begging for us to adopt again. Then in March I heard from the director of the babies home where we adopted our son from. She said she had a little girl living there that was dropped off when she was five weeks old that they could not find a home for locally. She thought she would be a good fit for our family and asked if we'd like to consider adopting her. Of course, this totally blew my mind. I brought it up to my husband, Steve and, of course, it blew his mind, too. In fact, we talked about it and prayed over it for about 6 weeks before we decided it was something we should do. But, we have also learned when God calls you to do something, you might as well just say "YES" because His plan is always best. Even if it seems crazy and outlandish, you just have to have faith and believe that He will walk you through it.

So we said yes and for the next 9 months we did a new home study, filled out applications, and gathered many, many documents for our dossier. Then on January 14th, 2016, we found out some exciting news...
